Finally our first Star Party of the year

Well we missed our first scheduled Star Party of the year in April due to poor weather, and the first scheduled Star Party in May due to the same reason but last night the skies were clear. Even though the waxing moon was not perfect for deep sky stargazing, it was a good initial target while waiting for things to get dark.

We want to thank all the members that attended with their families on this Memorial Day weekend. We had a good crowd show up last night so we had a lot of the club scopes setup out of the storage building. Member Bob Kolesnik brought out the antique Clark refractor for members to view through. Unfortunately we discovered we had a problem with the battery in our Observatory so we could not run the large GoTo scope on its inaugural night. Hopefully we will have this operational for our next Star Party in June.

Below are a few pictures from the event thanks to club members Jim Zebrowski and Kim Lemerise.

Thanks so much for hosting the star party last night. It was a thrill to be able to use the powerful scopes. My son and granddaughter are still talking about the experience — they had such a great time and learned so much. We were blown away by how welcoming everyone was and their willingness to answer our questions. I just joined the club last week and am so glad I did. Thank you, thank you to all. I hope I can contribute in the future.
