Aldrich Observatory Site

In an effort to make use of our awesome observatory site this summer, we plan on trying to meet at the Observatory field on Saturday, August 10th for a barbecue and stargazing party. We want to celebrate our accomplishments and to be sure the membership gets fully introduced to site as we continue to make plans for our Aldrich Community Education Center at this location in the near future. We also have great bathroom facilities now thanks to Bob Peloquin and a number of Aldrich members who helped.

Please let us know if you plan to attend by replying to this email and let us know how many are coming so we know how many burgers and dogs to buy. Also, please let us know if you would like to help out at the barbecue by bringing some favorite food items to share, or even a portable barbecue grill if you have one.

Remember to bring your telescope if you have one, or find out how to use the club scopes at the field if you don’t. This is a great opportunity to learn the night sky or learn how to use your scope if you need help with either. This is also an opportunity to learn how to use the club observatory Astro-Physics mount and 10″ Meade scope as we will offer training at this time.

Come and enjoy the night skies with your fellow club members. Event starts with the barbecue at 4:00 PM at our Oakham club observatory site. If you need directions to Observatory Field check out Members Only page on Aldrich site. Bring some portable chairs, sunscreen – we will have a small tent canopy out with a few picnic tables available for the meals and we already have one small barbecue unit available.  This will be great time to socialize, hear all about our future plans and how you might be able to help out.

We will have a quick board meeting at observatory site along with an update to the membership of all happenings in the club.
