Messier 31 – Andromeda Galaxy over Devils Tower – 16″ x 24″ – Aluminum

Photographer: Kevin Boucher

This is an 16 x 24″ picture on aluminum with a float mount (shown in picture) for easy wall hanging.

This picture represents a composition of three different pictures captured on different dates/times over last few years. The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) was captured over the course of many evenings spanning from 12/23/2016 to 2/22/2017. The Devils Tower picture was taken early evening during the eclipse trip in August 2017. The field of stars the Galaxy is within was taken on 10/19/2017 and was used instead of the original Galaxy star field because the photographer deemed the original star field too busy and distracting. This is a fun and completely manufactured picture inspiring images from the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Sometimes composite pictures containing both deep sky photographs such as M31 and familiar terrestrial targets like Devils Tower make the deep sky photos more accessible to the general public.
